The coral school

Coral, silver, mother of pearl, passion and creativity are the elements that distinguish the work of the local Istituto Statale d'Arte Francesco Costantino (Art High School). Along with Torre del Greco, it is the only one in Italy to specialise in the artistic-craftsmanship of coral - a recent art form that, only in the 1950s, began to be practiced in Alghero and was consolidated with the foundation of the Coral School, in which the greatest craftsmen of our city were trained.

Its founding, at the behest of various illustrious figures of the time, was significant for spreading the word and sealing the strong bond between the city and this precious element. In the exhibition rooms the creative process is recounted through projects, drawings using various techniques, after which, the jewels and objects created can be admired.
