The three sections

Traces of the past define the town’s identity, illustrating Alghero’s role throughout the centuries, both in Sardinia and in the Mediterranean Sea. 

The image of the Catalan town and its inhabitants is reflected in the museum set-up through an itinerary that leads visitors through three thematic sections, organised in chronological order. The accurate and thought-provoking environmental reconstructions are on display both on the first and on the second floor of the building.

The museum guides visitors along well-defined exhibition trails through prehistory and history and showcases different, yet complementary, perspectives: the sea, the lands of the living and the sacred realm.
